So are you looking to completely change the design of your bathroom and its lighting? Interested in installing LEDs within your new wall decor? See guide below to find out how

What you will need

Before you start collecting parts, measure the space you need your LEDs to fit, ensure you have the correct measurements before you shop so everything is ready and cut to size when you come to install.

LED Profile - Once you have your size, you will need to find some Recessed Profile to fit the measurements, if you cannot find it online consider our bespoke cutting service. When cut to length, this profile will hold your led strip within and act as a protective shield from water and dust keeping your LEDs in top condition.

LED Strip - With the profile selected, you can choose your waterproof led strip, selecting either plain or coloured lighting. This selection is purely down to your preference.

Remote / Control system - A control system for your strip is also needed for when they are embedded into the walls to enable you to turn them on and off. So a switch or remote system is crucial.

Power drive - Your LEDs will not work without a power supply, so select a drive to provide electricity to the strips.

Adhesive & Sealant - To finish off the project you will need some adhesive and waterproof sealant to ensure the installation is sturdy and watertight.

How to install

When installing recessed profile into a wall, it ideally needs to be done before the wall finishings are put in place, such as tiles or paper. This is because the profile will need to be set back into the wall to stay in place and sit flat to the wall when installed.

Once you are ready for the installation, mark out the placement for your profile, creating a space for it to fit within the walls. When the profile has been tested within the space, ensuring it is not being crushed or misshapen in any way, use adhesive to secure it into the wall. Apply a suitable sealant where necessary.

With the profile in place, you can now install the led strip, placing it inside the profile leaving a small space at either end for the wires to exit and profile lid to be inserted. Connect the wiring up to the power supply and ensure that the remote / switch system is installed correctly before placing the profile lid on. For a more polished look, keep the power supply out of eye sight, this will not only look neater but help keep the driver safe from water and damage.

When complete use waterproof sealant around the edges of the profile to ensure that no moisture can get in, then get to work on installing your wall finishings.
